چکیده

Early use of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is equal to the prophylactic administration a surfactant prevent neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (nRDS) in high-risk infants. However, almost half smallest infants still require intubation and mechanical ventilation first 72 hours after birth. It known that ineffective initial CPAP associated with poorer prognosis. Therefore, search for reliable prognostic risk factors very preterm neonates whose support started relevant today. The results retrospective cohort study conducted at Lviv Regional Clinical Hospital (Ukraine), which included 151 children birth weight <1500 g gestational age <32 weeks, showed failure occurred median five 31% initially treated average (SD) FiO2, while point was 0.48 (0.15). prevalence main severe nRDS did not differ significantly between two groups (CPAP success failure). treatment (OR – 7.46; 95% CI: 2.3–24.2), RDS 12.17; 3.8–39.3), requirement resuscitation 3.10; 1.2–8.1), 0.38; 0.15–0.99). Earlier exogenous high developing could need ventilation. Keywords: failure, ventilation, infants,

Incidence and risk factors of pneumothorax in premature low birth weight infants under mechanical ventilation

Objective: pulmonary air-leakage especially pneumothorax (ptx), is a severe complication in neonates. The aim of this study was to assess the predisposing factors and frequency of ptx among the low birth weight (LBW) premature infants, under mechanical ventilation. Methods: This cross sectional study was performed in 121 LBW intubated premature infants at neonatal intensive care unit of a child...

Assessment of Maternal Risk Factors Associated with Mortality in Preterm Infants

Background & Aims: Detection of maternal risk factors associated with neonatal mortality helps to identify high-risk infants and prevent neonatal death. It can also contribute to the design more effective prenatal care. This study was performed aiming to evaluate the maternal risk factors associated with mortality in preterm infants in Mashhad Ghaem Hospital, Iran, during 2009-2014. Methods: Th...

Inhaled Nitric Oxide in Preterm Infants Undergoing Mechanical Ventilation

BACKGROUND Bronchopulmonary dysplasia in premature infants is associated with prolonged hospitalization, as well as abnormal pulmonary and neurodevelopmental outcome. In animal models, inhaled nitric oxide improves both gas exchange and lung structural development, but the use of this therapy in infants at risk for bronchopulmonary dysplasia is controversial. METHODS We conducted a randomized...

The impacts of prone position on the blood oxygen saturations and heart rates of preterm infants under the mechanical ventilation

Background: The methods of baby's position are an important critical factor in ventilation and oxygenation of tissues. Although the prone position as one of the recommended position has beneficial effect on the development of premature infants, little research has been done. Methods: In a clinical trial among mechanically ventilated infants, hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care units (N...
